Orange the World

Orange The World is a global United Nations campaign led by UN Women to end violence against women and girls. It runs from November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) until December 10th (UN Human Rights Day).

As Inner Wheel Members, we will UNiTE in ACTION to stop violence against women and girls. We embrace the Orange The World campaign. 

The problem is HUGE:

    • 1 in 3 women worldwide has experienced physical or sexual violence
    • Domestic violence and femicide - a global crisis
    • Nearly 3 in 5 murdered women are killed by partners or family members
    • The shame that women and girls feel about speaking out after experiencing violence is overwhelming
    • When they finally speak out, they often face blame instead of support

 A brief history of the Orange the World campaign

Please insert this text in your publicity materials. The IW EVAWG Team has approval from UN Women for the phrase. You may translate it to your local language.

Purpose: To acknowledge and respect UN Women for the right to use the two terms.

Suggestion: Insert it at the bottom of a poster together with other copyright statements (if any).

Advice: For any other way of phrasing, please obtain consent from your local UN Women office

Orange the World labels/business cards Club use. Replace the Club name on the Front .doc file with your Club name. Print the Front on one side of the paper, and the Reverse on the other side.
